From ICAN:

WHAT:   Civil society summit on humanitarian effect of nuclear weapons
WHERE:  Oslo, Norway
WHEN:  2-3 March, 2013
WHY: To get a process for a treaty banning nuclear weapons started!

In 1945, after having witnessed the catastrophic humanitarian impact of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, campaigners around the world began to push the heavy rock of nuclear abolition up the steep hill of international politics. Today, nearly seven decades later, we are reaching the top.
Five months from now, the government of Norway will host an international conference on the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons. With this conference, governments signal that they are finally ready to dig their heads out of the sand and open their eyes to the catastrophic and all too real effects of nuclear weapons.
To demonstrate that it is both possible and urgent to solve this humanitarian problem, ICAN is inviting hundreds of people from all over the world to the Civil Society Summit on March 2/3 right before the International Humanitarian Conference.
We’ll have inspiring speeches, informative workshops, heated discussions, and, of course, a lot of fun.
We have waited for decades for the nuclear - armed states to take the lead and do what it is right. They have failed. Now it is time to take the decision out of their hands and ban nuclear weapons once and for all. Let’s set things straight: we demand the start of a process and we will not stop until negotiations for a nuclear weapons free world begin.
Are you ready to help us push the rock of nuclear abolition down the slope of humanitarian disarmament? Come to Oslo in March!
DO YOU WANT TO CONTRIBUTE TO BUILD THE SUCCESS OF THIS HISTORICAL PUSH?
Send your ideas and keep in touch, you'll receive ICAN suggestions very soon to build the humanitarian case of nuclear weapons in your country and all over the world.
